Jan Bobek & Hajducy

Jan Bobek was born in Chicago in 1983. Following family tradition, he began taking violin lessons with his father at age nine. Soon thereafter, Jan started taking violin lessons from Aleksander Repala and Bogdan Pawlikowski. Jan studied with Joseph Glymph at Northeastern Illinois University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education.

He has performed with the Protege Philharmonic, Classical Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Espagnol, NEIU String Ensemble, Chicago Immigrant Orchestra and Chicago Metropolitan Orchestra in addition to being a regular soloist at private events throughout Chicago. In 2010 Jan received his Master’s degree from Northeastern Illinois University in Educational Administration. Jan is also the founder of the Polish Highlander Dance and Music Group Zawaternik. Jan is married to his best friend Bernadetta who plays violin and is co leader of his highlander group.

Jan enjoys teaching, playing, arranging, and composing music. Jan has held posts of orchestra director at Lane Technical College Preparatory High School, Stevenson High School and Professor of string pedagogy at Northeastern and North Park Universities. Currently Jan is orchestra and guitar director at Willowbrook High School in Villa Park, IL. He also is leader of Chicago area Polish Highlander Band Kapela Hajducy. Jan leads a busy life but his favorite time is spent with his two sons Philip and Oliver and Wife Bernadetta.
